Brackish Water from Marcellus Shale Drilling Can be Purified, Recycled and Reused (PR2), According to CTC Foundation  

The Enviro-Shale Process (ESP) technology produces a high purity water which can be reused in drilling new wells. The concentrated brine is purified into a high purity salt product. The Foundation is working with the patent holder to identify partners to support the commercial demonstration of the technology. The test budget is $500,000 with an overall Phase I budget of $1.5 million. A Pennsylvania State-funded agency has made a $300,000 commitment to support the test.
