Education and Workforce Training

The Foundation will facilitate the development of educational tools and technology to:   improve the learning process, including teacher education, at the community and national levels; extend the reach of educational resources through distance learning and other communications technologies; and foster internships and other educational venues to promote interest and participation in engineering and other technology related disciplines.

The caliber of a community’s educational system and delivery capabilities has always been the key barometer of its economic and social growth.  In recognition of the essential role of education in community and regional development, equipping the existing and emerging workforces with the academic and experiential tools to meet the challenges of the future is one of the Foundation’s fundamental objectives.   Through partnerships with industrial sector, dedicated individuals, families and philanthropic institutions, the CTC Foundation is becoming a national pacesetter in this area by facilitating the development of the technology-based educational tools that enrich the learning process.

Areas of initiative include:

Developing broad and cost effective access to Distance Learning technologies and establishing "total learning" laboratories employing Virtual Reality and game theory as well as virtual collaborations (virtual mentors and lab buddies) as learning tools.   Providing real time on-line access to innovative, state-of-the-art curricula and other pedagogic advancements to students at elementary through graduate and continuing education levels will create benefit and long-term value for our children, our region’s, and our global competitiveness.

Providing opportunities for academic advancement by introducing and applying technology and systems to the enrichment of students’ understanding of industry and environmental issues.  To achieve this goal, the Foundation facilitates internships and other instruments and venues to attract promising and gifted students to science, engineering, and technology-focused disciplines.

Facilitating professional growth and empowerment for teachers through teacher education programs highlighting the appropriate use of technology as an enhanced learning tool.  Raising the overall caliber and specific proficiencies of teachers across the country will translate into significant results in terms of individual commitment to the profession and into broad impact on the marketplace.

Designing and deploying technologies that will improve English and multi-language skills at an early age and throughout life is at the core of the Foundation’s approach to education.  Achieving this goal will foster a broad commitment to consistently high quality pre-school, early learning, and adult and continuing education in the community and at work.

Facilitating more effective integration of industry and community to address local, regional and national educational issues by promoting increased and ongoing exchanges between industry and school faculty, administrators and School Board members.  Through these and similar initiatives and the development of community-based programs, the Foundation encourages the interaction and coalescence of parents, educators, students and communities around issues relating to learning and community development.
