Advanced Information Technology

The Foundation will foster expanded use of Information Technology to:  improve the effectiveness of training and education of the workforce of the future; develop and promote science and technology education; and enhance global communication and knowledge sharing.

The continuing development and broader application of information technology more fully employs, leverages and benefits the economic, social and cultural progress of nations and people.  Recognizing this, the CTC Foundation plays a pivotal role in encouraging initiatives that set the standard of excellence for advancing the responsible use of information technologies. Among myriad capabilities, the Foundation helps set the global agenda for:

Enhancing future generation’s knowledge and application of Information Technology. The Foundation is committed to promoting IT and computer sciences as an integral part of curricula for elementary through advanced education. The U.S. professional workforce of the future is shrinking and becoming increasingly diverse, comprised of more senior citizens and unskilled labor. As a result, we will experience an increasing demand for technically skilled labor in a shrinking workforce with more diverse needs. Education of that workforce will become a national and international priority. Through the design and deployment of progressive science and technology educational programs and tools, we will equip our existing workforce and help prepare future generations to meet the challenges of global competitiveness.

Creating a universal language removing social and cultural barriers to world prosperity.   The Internet is the tool that links the world, breaking down language barriers to knowledge sharing among diverse cultures and societies.   The Foundation is committed to advancing the state-of-the-art in transliteration—using software tools to automatically convert electronic documents to prescribed languages—enabling the majority of the world’s developed and developing nations to achieve their economic and social objectives through truly seamless electronic communication.

Using IT to address everyday and catastrophic human needs, especially the challenges facing aging population, is a priority of the Foundation.   By improving access to medical and home health care, and by facilitating medical decision making through real-time communication, often with family members across the globe, the Foundation is creating lasting and meaningful changes.

Supporting advances in global IS security.   As the information infrastructure envelops the globe, secure transmission of personal, business, and scientific information has become an absolute necessity.   The Foundation ensures that IS security remains on the forefront of technological achievement by taking on a pro-active role in international IS security standards development and adoption initiatives.
